PCFSC: Unicorn Magic

Hi darlings!

Today's challenge is... Unicorn Magic.  What in the world is unicorn magic, you say?  Who knows, but interpret as you wish I suppose ;)

I think of unicorns as sparkly (maybe because they have shimmering blood in Harry Potter? lol) so I went with a shimmery, sparkly kind of mani.

I started off with a base of OPI - Go on Green, which took 3 coats to build up.  Then I added a coat of blue flakies, Finger Paints - Motley, which only showed up in certain light (if you click on the photos you'll see them better ;), then one coat of Nicole by OPI - Make a Comet-ment to give it a bit of holo sparkle, and finished off with China Glaze - Marry a Millionaire at the tips.

This was SUCH a hard mani to take photos of.. my camera just wouldn't capture the sparkle that was actually there.

Sunlight photo to try and show off a bit of the holo particles.  I'm a bit sad that the pictures didn't do it justice, because it really was pretty :)

PCFSC: Spring Lilac

Hi lovelies!

Today I bring you my favourite spring lilac polish.  This was so easy to pick, I have a few lilac polishes but this one by far wins the title of favourite for me!

(I love these awkward hand poses, lol)

I feel like this is THE perfect lilac polish.  Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Lacey Lilac.  It's not too chalky or pastel-y but it still screams spring.  And it's super flattering on my skin tone.  Love, love, love this one!

I hope everyone's week is off to a good start!  Check out the other Spring Challenge participants:

PCFSP: Blossoming Trees

Yesterday's challenge was for blossoming tree nails.  Here's the mani I ended up with :)

I really, really liked this mani, it's so cute and was incredibly easy to do.  I used a black nail art polish to paint on the branches, then used 2 different sized dotting tools to make the flowers :)

PCFSP: Pink Polka Dots

Hi all!

Happy hump day!  I hope everyone is having a good week so far :)

Today's spring challenge was to do pink polka dots.  I had a pretty good idea in my head, but it didn't translate as nicely as I hoped.

Base is 3 coats of Essie - Chinchilly, then I used a dotting tool, put on some white polish, then covered that up with China Glaze - Pool Party so that the pink would stand out.  In real life you can't see see white outlines where the pink polish didn't completely cover it, of course macro shots picked it up :P  And I did an accent nail using Essie's Shine of the Time.

Pink and grey look great together, in my opinion, I just wish my stamping was more uniform and that the pink was more vibrant!  Besides that, I think this is still cute :)

And how amazing does Shine of the Time look over this?  Soo pretty!

PCFSP: Spring Clean - Out of Season Colour

Hi lovelies!

Today's Purple Crumpet Spring Challenge is an out of season colour, something that doesn't fall under "spring" polish.  I certainly don't match my polish to the season, but I know some people do, and so I chose a polish that I feel some may not wear this spring/summer.

Orly - Rock Solic from the Mineral Fx collection.  This is a gorgeous gunmetal gray with tons of shimmer and some holo glitter thrown in there.  I love these kinds of polishes.. dark but super sparkly!  The holo glitter was super hard to capture on camera though!

So, while I would still wear this on the hottest day of summer, I know some would avoid it as it's not a bright, happy, summery kind of shade :)

Orly - Rock Solid

You can certainly see the holo glitter in the bottle shot.  Yummy!

Pastel Stripes

Hey lovelies!

Here's just a NOTD post.  I'm not a pastel kind of person, but I wasn't feeling the darks or brights on my nails and therefore ended up with cute pastel stripes on my finger tips :)

I started off by painting half of my nail bed with Essie - A Crewed Interest (the lovely peach polish), then covered the other half with  Essie - Play Date (gorgeous purple), and swiped on a strip of L'Oreal - Club Prive, which reminds me a lot of CG For Audrey, right in the middle.

This mani just made me happy.  It definitely screamed spring mani, and the weather here hasn't been to shabby lately either, which makes me want spring even more!

Cloudicure

Hey all!

So.. today's Spring Challenge was water marbling, and because I'm super intimidated with it.. I'm skipping it.  Gasp!

But instead, I have my first 'cloudicure' a la Nailside.  I LOVE this mani.  I keep reapplying polish as the tips wear because I want it to last as long as possible :P

This was initially going to be a pink polka dot mani for the spring challenge, but I started it, hated it, removed it and ended up with this.  I used Revlon - Aloof as the base except for the accent which is OPI - Sparrow me the drama.  The first cloud on all nails was Orly - Purple Crush, then Revlon - Royal as the blue tips and Aloof as the white tip.

This ended up being a really quick and easy mani, and it's so fun!  I then used a new top coat.. Revlon Quick Dry which was NOT supposed to cause shrkinage but whooooey, I woke up to nearly every single nail having some shrinkage, which made me incredibly sad :(  But I fixed them up and was happy again.

Have you ever attempted the cloudicure?

PCFSC: Small Flowers

Hi darlings!

Today's Spring Challenge was to do a mani with small flowers.

I wanted to do something quick while using untrieds, and it turned out decently enough!

This lovely yellow is Joe Fresh - Pineapple, and the blue is Joe Fresh - Cobalt.  I love these Joe polishes.. it took 3 coats to remove certain bald spots that the yellow didn't cover, but had I been more patient I could have gotten away with 2 lovely coats!

I them used a Bundle Monster plate and stamped flowers using China Glaze - For Audrey on the blue, and Color Club - Express Yourself.  I do wish the stamping was a bit cleaner, but it still looks pretty cute :)

PCFSC: Favourite Spring Pink

Hi Loves,

This is a day late and I apologize but at least it's here, right? :)

I realize that spring is pastels but I'm soo not a pastel person.  I'm all for the jewel/darker tones so I decided to go with a more 'me' pink :)

This pink.. I admired my nails ALL day, it's so vibrant and gorgeous.  It's the new Essie - Tour de Finance, a nice bright pink with some gorgeous shimmer through it.

I gave it a little more sparkle using Orly - Love Each Other, a blue shimmery top coat.

Black and Pink

Hi darlings!

Okay.. so V-day is around the corner, and I did want to do valentine inspired nails, I just.. I stared at my stash, wondering just what to do with my nails, and I really just wasn't feeling the baby pinks and the reds and so, this is what I ended up with.

I admit.. I adore wearing black nail polish.  And since I have a pretty dark complexion, it actually doesn't look half bad on my skin tone.  And black and pink?  Those two colours make me swoon.  I have a lot of black and pink 'things', hair included!  Anyway, this is what I ended up with.  Black nails with a gorgeous pink glitter I had yet to wear.  This is one of those manis I can't stop staring at!

And, yes, because Valentine's Day is so soon, I added kissy stamps as an accent.  There's too much overlap though so it just looks like smudges, but it was a nice try regardless ;)

The base is OPI - Black Onyx, and I used Icing - Glitterati for the glitter gradient.  It has gorgeous fuchsia hex glitter, and holo micro glitter particles.  It's such a gorgeous glitter polish!

Hope everyone has a lovely Valentine's tomorrow.. My love is out at sea for the next month, so I plan on getting cozy at home, sipping on tea with my kindle in hand.  Not such a bad way to spend the day :)

Frolic for Audrey

Hey all!

Here's a fun but quick mani that I did a few days ago.  My darling boyfriend passed on some sort of cold and I've been feeling pretty crummy lately so I'm all about the cute & easy nails right now :)

Here is Orly Frolic, one of the most perfect purple creme I have come across so far.  It's gorgeous and the formula is easy to work with.  My accent is non other than CG - For Audrey, with free handed leopard print using Frolic and WnW Black Creme.  And to add a little sparkle I free handed french tips using Essie - Pure Pearlfection.  I liked this mani so much that it's still on my finger tips and almost still in perfect condition and it's been a few days.  I'm a compulsive mani changer, so this is kind of a big deal ;)
