Monkey See Monkey Do

Hi all!

There's a new challenge of sorts over at the Purple Crumpet Fairy Challenges group called Monkey See Monkey Do Monday's (okay, and as per usual I'm a few days late).  It's pretty self explanatory, find a mani that someone else did that you loved, and re-create, but always give credit where credit is due!

I chose to recreate this gorgeous mani done by Leslie at Polish Art Addiction.

The link posted to the original mani shows a tutorial on how to achieve this look if you're interested in having a go at this!

For this mani I used a base of NOPI - I'm a Belieber, my first ever purple creme.  Then on the two accent nails I added 2 black strips on either side using milani nail art polish, then I used a small brush and added a blue strip using GOSH - Pool Party.

Using the nail art polish I created the geometrical design in the middle, then dotted China Glaze Electric Beat.  I then painted on small triangles on using Electric Beat, OPI Steady as she Rose and China Glaze Lemon Fizz

I love love love how it turned out.  It's not as perfect and straight as Leslie's mani, but I could live with that, the colours go great together and it was just a fun and very 'me' mani.

PCFSC: Pastel Patchwork

Hi all!

Staying true to my my procrastinating self, I'm a day late posting this, but it's okay.. right?  So this is my first patchwork mani, and I was pretty pleased with how it turned out :)

I started out painting my nails white, then adding the black lines using Milani Nail Art in black.  I then used three different colours to fill in the 'patches', and finished off by retraced the black lines to make it look cleaner (basically I just followed the tutorial by Kayla).  The colours used were Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Mint Sorbet, Revlon's Dreamer and Essie's To Buy or Not To Buy, with an honourable guest on my thumb of Essie - A Crewed Interest ;)

Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend, and don't forget to check out the other participants and see what their patchwork mani looks like:

PCFSP: Blossoming Trees

Yesterday's challenge was for blossoming tree nails.  Here's the mani I ended up with :)

I really, really liked this mani, it's so cute and was incredibly easy to do.  I used a black nail art polish to paint on the branches, then used 2 different sized dotting tools to make the flowers :)

First half moon mani

Hi lovelies!

Sorry for my lack of postage lately.. I have no good reason really, besides wanting to just spend time with the boyfriend before he goes on a month long sailing trip for military training.  I've just been avoiding the computer pretty much :)

This is a mani I did last week.  It was my first attempt at a half moon mani, and I haaated it lol.  I'll have to try again, but I think I just didn't like the colour combination I used.  Something just didn't seem right about it, anyway.

I think I might have preferred it if I had covered up most of the light pink instead of covering up the darker shade.  Because the accent nail is the one I loved the most!
I used a base of Color Club - Hot Like Lava which is sooo pretty on it's own.  Then stuck on the hole reinforcement stickies and put a coat of OPI - Steady as she Rose, and covered that up with Revlon - Starry Pink.  I really like Starry Pink, but I feel like it doesn't really suit my skin tone very well.  (Side note:  I remember in my early polish blog reading days being confused about that statement, that a polish just 'didn't suit their skin tone' and I thought it was totally absurd.  Now I understand, haha).

Moving on.  My accent finger was done using 2 coats of starry pink, and I added OPI - Metalic 4 Life on top.  I think that combo was super cute!

And then to cover up a few mistakes I added some silver polish around the half moon part.  Blech.

31 Days of Christmas: Angels

Hi ladies!

Day 13 of the Christmas challenge asked for Angels.  I have an angel wing stamp I thought of using but decided to try my hand at actually free-handing it.  Ha.  I'm funny, I'm not even close to anything artsy.. it turned out okay.  It looks a bit rough around the edges, but it's obviously an angel ;)

Essie - Chinchilly (base)
OPI - Teenage Dream (glitter on base)
Sally Hansen - White On (Angel Dress)
OPI - Designer de Better (Angel wings)
NOPI - Miss Independent (face)
China Glaze - Lemon Fizz (hair)
GOSH - Gold (halo)
Milani Nail Art - Black (eyes and feet)
Not in the picture: OPI - Houston we have a purple (mouth)

Funny, right?  She has no arms lol, and her face looks like a 1 year old painted it :P  I just had to laugh at myself and decided the remainder of my fingers would get halos only. Way easier that way.  Hope everyone else has better luck than I did ;)

31 Days of Christmas: Christmas Wrapping

Hi girls!

Christmas wrapping huh?  Well.. I've done the next 3 'challenges' and I guess you could say I was feeling uninspired since only one of them is to my liking.  But!  I wasn't up to redoing any of them so they'll be shown anyway :)

OPI - Designer de Better
GOSH - Flying Dragon
Quo by Orly - Celestial Star
GOSH - Gold
These were used for the base.

Revlon - Jelly (fairies)
Joe Fresh - Ink (bow)
Milani Nail Art - Art of Silver
Milani Nail Art - Purple Outline
Color Club - It's a Hit

They did not turn out at ALL like I wanted lol.  I put fairies on my index because all I have for Christmas wrapping paper right now is Disney Fairies paper.. I'm a HUGE Tinkerbell fan, and when I seen a package of these at Costco I couldn't resist.  So everyone gets Tink & friends wrapping paper for the holidays... for the next 5 years :)  The paper is much cuter than my index finger is haha.

Middle finger I went simple and added a cute bow stamp.  Ring finger.. well.. I should have looked up plaid tutorials LOL.  And pinkie finger, you can't go wrong with glittery wrapping paper :)

Quo by Orly: Turquoise Moonlight

Hi everyone!

Happy Friday!  Every time someone mentions the word Friday, my boyfriend turns into Rebecca Black and manages to get the song stuck in my head ALL. DAY. LONG.  Here's just a quick post showing off the mani I did the other day.  The boy sent me a tutorial video that he had watched, and he was all amazed at what one could do with nail art pens so he insisted we go out and buy some.. and so we did!  Milani polish at Lawton's were buy one get one free.. so we took advantage of that.

What I used:

OPI - Natural Base Coat
Quo by Orly - Turquoise Moonlight
Orly - Rococo A Go-Go
Milani Nail Art - Black Sketch
Milani Nail Art - Art of Gold
Milani Nail Art - Purple Outline
Seche Vite top coat

My very first mani with nail art pens!  :P  I wasn't feeling very inspired so this is what I ended up with.  Not terrible, I really liked the purple nail art polish.. it had little flecks of blue glitter that I really loved!  I've been doing an accent nail for years now, and Rococo A Go-Go was still sitting in my untrieds pile so I threw it on there.  How did I wait so long to use this?  It's beauuutiful!

These are just taken under regular light.  I hardly get home before sun set, this will have to do for now.
