Fall inspired Skittlette

Hi loves

Another quickie today :)

I put this mani together after a few cold and rainy Halifax days, which put me in the mood for a Fall inspired look.

I started with OPI Honey Ryder on my pinkie, and OPI Chatters me Up on my ring and middle finger.  This was an exclusive polish to the salon Chatters in Canada.. it's such a beautifully sparkly polish!  Then using a Pueen stamp and Essie Good as Gold I added the image on both fingers.

On my pointer finger I added two coats of Essie Don't Sweater It.  Once dried I placed striping tape and one coat of Essie Recessionista

This was a fun look - I'm so happy to be able to sport darker shades on my tips again :)

China Glaze Fancy Pants

Hi all!

Yikes, it's been a little while since I last wrote a blog post.  While I want to be sorry, I'm not really :P  I'm in my home province, spending a whole lot of time with my very big family.  The passed weekend we had our annual family horseshoe tournament and this next weekend we celebrate my grandparents 65th wedding anniversary.  How crazy is that?

You'll notice that I have a new nail shape.  I'm not sure how much I like it yet, but in the last few months I picked up a few new hobbies, one of which is hula hooping, or hoop dancing.  And because of it I've broken SO MANY nails.  So, I'm trying this out and see if they'll stop snapping every time the hoop hits my hand.

Right now I'm at home working on my thesis so I took a bit of me time.  I had two huge nail fails yesterday, and I'm not super happy with this current mani but what can you do?

This is China Glaze Fancy Pants, a beauuutiful blurple with amazing shimmer.  On my middle and pinkie finger we have dots and stripes in Essie No Place Like Chrome.

My index and ring finger have this gorgeous glitter that I don't use nearly enough, Icing Written in the Stars.

I'm holding my hoop in the last two pictures.. how pretty is it?!  It's made out of heavy PVC piping though, which is why my nails have been snapping.. Maybe once I actually get good it won't happen so much ;)

Happy belated Canada Day to my Canadian lovelies, and Happy early 4th of July to my American loves, hope you celebrate(d) with those you love the most :)

Stamping Decal Mix & Match mani

Hi loves!

Happy almost Friday :)

Just a little quickie.  Pinkie finger has one coat of China Glaze Liquid Crystal over China Glaze Smoke and Ashes.  Ring and middle finger have China Glaze Traffic Jam, stripped with China Glaze For Audrey and various striper polishes.

On my index finger is China Glaze For Audrey, then using THIS tutorial I made my own nail decal using one of the BM stamping plates.  I filled some spots in using CG Traffic Jam & Frostbite, then applied top coat on top.  Once that was dry I applied a top coat to my nail, peeled the decal off of the stamper then applied it to my nail.  As you can see there is a TON of bubbling that occurred.  I'll have to give this another try, but I have a feeling these decals are better used for smaller stamping pictures and not full nail patterns.  Of course it could also just be user error since this was my first try :)

What do you all think of the home made nail decals? :)

Floral & Stripes

Hi all!

There have been some amazing floral nail art going around lately, so I decided to give it a try.  I hadn't done flowers in what seems like ages!

When I started this look I wasn't sure just what I was going for, but I'm super happy with how they turned out!  On my pinkie I have a base of OPI Solitaire and dots are OPI Tifanny Case, both from the new Bond Girls Liquid Sand line.  My ring finger is China Glaze Electric Beat, and the purple flowers are China Glaze Gothic Lolita.  To outline and detail the flowers I used OPI Eurso..Euro.

On my middle and index finger I have China Glaze Gothic Lolita with flowers done using  Electric Beat and Eurso.. Euro.  A white stripping polish was used for the strips.

Thanks for having a look!

Retro Mani

Hi all!

I was feeling inspired the other day and came up with a mani that I totally fell in love with!  I went 'stash shopping' and used some polish that have been sitting there collecting dust for a little bit :P

I used a base of Joe Fresh Pineapple on all nails, then used OPI Dim Sum Plum for the dots on the index finger, the base for the roses, and as the top layer of polish on the ring finger (done with striping tape).  OPI Pink Friday was used to fill in some dots on the index and ring finger, and to finish the roses.  Color Club Not for Kelly and Twiggie were used for the leaves.  Twiggie was also used to fill in some dots on the index finger.  All polishes were also used to sponge using plastic wrap (seen here, but I can't seem to access the blog post with the tutorial).

I'm pretty pleased with this, I know my roses could use a bit more practice but for my first try I think they turned out quite well.  And I LOVE the plastic wrap sponging technique, it's definitely fun to do!

Thanks for looking :)

Bright Stripes + Cute cat

Hi loves!

Quick post to show you my latest favourite mani:  Bright freehand stripes using mostly Color Club poptastic polishes that I just found at Winner's.

The base I used was CC Pucci-licious, this gorgeous and unique to my collection blue toned mauvey purple.  I then added random free hand stripes in CC - Twiggie (green), Poptastic (pink), Cold Metal (dark blue foil) and Lumen-Icent (light blue foil), and a black nail striper polish.

It's so pretty :)

And now, this is what happens EVERY single time I take photos of my manis.  Maybe I'll start posting these photos because they make me smile.  This is my cat Swift.  He's extremely curious and follows me everywhere, and always sits there and talks to me or gets in my way when I'm trying to take pics of my nails.

:)

Pastel Stripes

Hey lovelies!

Here's just a NOTD post.  I'm not a pastel kind of person, but I wasn't feeling the darks or brights on my nails and therefore ended up with cute pastel stripes on my finger tips :)

I started off by painting half of my nail bed with Essie - A Crewed Interest (the lovely peach polish), then covered the other half with  Essie - Play Date (gorgeous purple), and swiped on a strip of L'Oreal - Club Prive, which reminds me a lot of CG For Audrey, right in the middle.

This mani just made me happy.  It definitely screamed spring mani, and the weather here hasn't been to shabby lately either, which makes me want spring even more!
